About the role

  • Conduct independent research to identify major trends and dynamics in coal, petcoke, and thermal fuel markets.
  • Build, maintain, and quality-assure fundamentals datasets that underpin market analysis
  • Utilize Kpler and external data sources to produce market-driven, independent analyses of current and projected market trends
  • Develop and refine supply/demand models using Python for forecasting and scenario analysis
  • Collaborate with the Dry Bulk business unit to support product development and expand commodity market coverage
  • Present research findings clearly to internal teams and external clients/stakeholders
  • Take ownership of analytical projects, including those in ambiguous or emerging areas

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of coal, gas, and power markets
  • High competency in using Excel
  • Experience using Python libraries for data formatting and forecasting
  • Strong track record of conducting research on niche topics and producing insightful written analysis
  • Proven ability to take ownership and excel in execution, particularly in ambiguous situations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Experience in commodity research, trading, consulting, or analytics roles
  • Familiarity with supply/demand modeling methodologies
  • Network of industry contacts in coal, petcoke, or thermal fuel markets
  • Experience presenting complex analysis to diverse audiences
