About the role

  • Own the integration process from Day 1 through Day 100+ for each acquisition, serving as the central point of coordination across all workstreams.
  • Develop and execute integration plans covering HR/people, IT/systems, finance/accounting, operations, and culture—tailored to each acquisition's unique circumstances.
  • Coordinate with HR Operations and IT to ensure employees are properly onboarded to company systems, benefits, and policies.
  • Partner with Finance/Accounting to integrate financial reporting, establish new chart of accounts alignment, and ensure clean monthly closes.
  • Build relationships with acquired company leadership and employees, serving as their primary point of contact during the transition period.
  • Receive knowledge transfer from the M&A team on diligence findings, ensuring integration plans address identified risks and opportunities.
  • Identify and escalate integration risks, developing mitigation plans and keeping leadership informed of progress and blockers.
  • Develop and refine the integration playbook, documenting lessons learned and best practices from each acquisition.
  • Transition from integration to optimization, working with portfolio company leadership to identify operational improvement opportunities.
  • Support the implementation of shared services (HR, IT, Finance, Marketing) across portfolio companies.
  • Track and report on integration milestones, KPIs, and value creation metrics.
  • Travel to acquired company locations as needed during integration periods (expect 30-50% travel depending on deal flow).

Requirements

  • 6-10 years of experience in post-merger integration, management consulting, or operational transformation roles.
  • Direct involvement in 5-15 post-acquisition integrations, with experience leading integration workstreams.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or relevant advanced degree a plus.
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to coordinate complex, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Understanding of key integration workstreams: HR/benefits, IT/systems, finance/reporting, and operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust quickly with acquired company employees at all levels.
  • Strong change management instincts—you know how to bring people along, not just mandate compliance.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt your style to different audiences.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to make progress when playbooks don't exist yet.
  • Willingness to travel significantly during active integration periods.
  • Hands-on orientation—you execute the work, not just manage it from a distance.
  • Strong bias for automation and personal workflow optimization—you're always looking for ways to streamline integration processes and eliminate manual work.
  • Experience with AI tools for productivity, specifically Claude or similar AI assistants. We use Claude extensively and expect you to leverage it daily.
Benefits
  • Health insurance
  • 401(k) matching
  • Flexible work hours
  • Paid time off
