About the role

  • Draft various pleadings, motions, and other legal documents as needed.
  • Prepare and respond to written discovery requests and oversee the assembly and management of document production.
  • Supervise and manage the work of department paralegals and legal assistants to ensure quality, accuracy, adherence to deadlines, and compliance with established procedures.
  • Perform the duties of department paralegals and legal assistants in their absence.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve inquiries or concerns from property managers and board members.
  • Provide guidance to department staff on handling complex issues and assist with resolving escalated complaints or disputes.
  • Implement corporate and departmental policies, procedures, and standards in coordination with management.
  • Address performance issues with employees, identify root causes, and work toward effective resolutions.
  • Train and mentor department staff on job responsibilities, company policies, and best practices.
  • Distribute workload equally and ensure a consistent and efficient workflow.
  • Arrange coverage and backup support for staff as needed.
  • Assist in interviewing and hiring new team members.
  • Lead or actively participate in the implementation of new initiatives and department-wide programs.
  • Collaborate closely with the Litigation Department Attorney Manager and participate in department meetings.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Litigation Department Attorney Manager.
  • Manage firm user accounts for LexisAdvance, Smartbooks, Microbilt, SearchBug, and DuPage County CRIS.
  • Oversee the Litigation Department’s Odyssey, i2File, and Cook County Sheriff e-filing accounts.
  • Maintain and update department library publications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of practical litigation experience as a paralegal.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Proficiency with department-related software and technology preferred, including LexisAdvance, Westlaw, iManage, Juris, Juris Suite, Vision, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, Relativity, Scarab, and other relevant tools.
  • Strong drafting and legal writing skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while handling complex tasks and meeting daily deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to specialized firm software.
