Draft various pleadings, motions, and other legal documents as needed.
Prepare and respond to written discovery requests and oversee the assembly and management of document production.
Supervise and manage the work of department paralegals and legal assistants to ensure quality, accuracy, adherence to deadlines, and compliance with established procedures.
Perform the duties of department paralegals and legal assistants in their absence.
Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve inquiries or concerns from property managers and board members.
Provide guidance to department staff on handling complex issues and assist with resolving escalated complaints or disputes.
Implement corporate and departmental policies, procedures, and standards in coordination with management.
Address performance issues with employees, identify root causes, and work toward effective resolutions.
Train and mentor department staff on job responsibilities, company policies, and best practices.
Distribute workload equally and ensure a consistent and efficient workflow.
Arrange coverage and backup support for staff as needed.
Assist in interviewing and hiring new team members.
Lead or actively participate in the implementation of new initiatives and department-wide programs.
Collaborate closely with the Litigation Department Attorney Manager and participate in department meetings.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Litigation Department Attorney Manager.
Manage firm user accounts for LexisAdvance, Smartbooks, Microbilt, SearchBug, and DuPage County CRIS.
Oversee the Litigation Department’s Odyssey, i2File, and Cook County Sheriff e-filing accounts.
Maintain and update department library publications.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of practical litigation experience as a paralegal.
Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
Proficiency with department-related software and technology preferred, including LexisAdvance, Westlaw, iManage, Juris, Juris Suite, Vision, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, Relativity, Scarab, and other relevant tools.
Strong drafting and legal writing skills.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while handling complex tasks and meeting daily deadlines.
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to specialized firm software.
