About the role
- Role: Counsellor in Training
- Reporting: Team Leader
- Provide face-to-face counselling across the city for children and young people aged between 11-19 years old (up to 25 with additional needs)
- Voluntary face-to-face position suited to students who have completed first year of level 4 training to accrue training hours
- Management Supervision provided by the Team Manager/Senior Practitioner
- Supervision and Insurance are the candidates responsibility and must be in place before placement commences
- Travel expenses are paid
- Trainees encouraged to attend regular Kooth training events to develop clinical practice.
Requirements
- To provide appropriate individual support to young people taking into account their developmental needs.
- To continually assess the mental health needs of the young person and refer to other services in the young person’s local authority if necessary.
- To provide clinical hours in negotiation with the Clinical Lead and Senior Pracitioner for the local area.
- To be aware of and ensure compliance with legal requirements and School Procedures with particular reference to Safeguarding young people.
- To attend monthly clinical supervision and team meetings where appropriate.
