About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide broad-spectrum user interface and user experience design services across Drupal, SharePoint, Microsoft Power Platform, and custom web applications
- Analyze existing web content and usability
- Gather and document stakeholder requirements and user needs
- Produce design plans and wireframes for new sites and applications
- Develop user interfaces that meet USDA and MRP branding standards
- Develop branding guides, reusable templates, and components compliant with organizational standards
- Assess compliance with Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards
- Provide training and guidance to developers, site owners, content managers, and citizen developers
- Support KDS's USDA customer under the MRP LSIT Infrastructure Services Modernization Support contract and Objective 13 of the PWS
- Work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. local time, with a one-hour lunch break
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Web Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in UX/UI design and web development
- Experience with user interface design for web content management systems, web applications, and low-code/no-code platforms
- Experience with CSS and frameworks such as Bootstrap and Tailwind
- Hands-on experience with Drupal, SharePoint, and Microsoft Power Platform
- Ability to perform usability analyses and identify opportunities for improvement
- Skill in interviewing stakeholders to identify and document user needs
- Experience producing wireframes
- Ability to develop branding guides, reusable templates, and compliant components
- Knowledge of Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government PIV card
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to pass a NACIC background investigation
- Must obtain ITIL V4 Foundations Certification within 90 days of start date
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Experience in a federal government or government contracting environment is a plus
- Experience with federal agency branding guidelines is desired
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Experience providing training and guidance to site owners, content managers, and citizen developers
- Knowledge of Microsoft Power Apps or Power Pages
- Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar IT service management platforms
- Experience in an Agile or similar project management environment
- Knowledge of USDA mission, infrastructure, and IT services is a strong plus
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to quickly learn new tools, systems, and technologies independently
