About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Assist in transitioning to a software-defined networking (SDN) strategy
Support the design, development, and maintenance of Kohl’s network infrastructure
Leverage software engineering practices and participate in code and design reviews
Support the implementation of SDN strategies using tools like Ansible and GitLab
Provide support and assistance to senior engineers
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving network issues
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support network requirements
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends

Requirements

What you’ll need

Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, DNS/DHCP)
Familiarity with network design and implementation principles
Basic knowledge of network security (e.g., firewall configurations, VPNs), preferably with some exposure to Palo Alto Networks
Basic knowledge of network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., Wireshark, Nmap)
Familiarity with network virtualization technologies (e.g., Cisco ACI, SDWAN, VMWare NSX, Linux KVM)
Interest in cloud-based networking, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Basic programming skills (e.g., Python, Bash)
Interest in automation tools (e.g., Ansible, GitLab)
Preferred Internship or project experience in network engineering or related fields.
Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or similar
Familiarity with additional automation tools and frameworks
Interest in DevOps practices and integration with CI/CD pipelines
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Passion for continuous learning and staying updated with emerging technologies.
