About the role
- Manage, mentor, and coach a team of ~8 engineers, supporting growth through feedback, reviews, and career development
- Partner with Product and Design to define roadmaps, set clear goals, and translate strategy into execution
- Lead sprint planning, retrospectives, and delivery processes that balance roadmap work, technical debt, and incident response
- Drive architectural decisions and ensure the team builds scalable, reliable systems
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive culture where engineers thrive and do their best work
- Own team OKRs/KPIs, communicate progress and risks to leadership, and ensure alignment with company priorities
- Support incident response and postmortems for the team’s systems
- Set technical and organizational direction for a critical customer-facing platform (Core Portal)
Requirements
- At least 4–5 years as a hands-on software engineer (minimum 4 years)
- 3+ years managing engineering teams
- Ability to mentor engineers and build strong, inclusive teams
- Experience leading teams through growth and delivery in fast-paced environments
- Comfortable balancing technical trade-offs with product and business priorities
- Experience with on-call rotations, incident management, and building reliable systems
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences
- Prior hands-on engineering experience and the technical depth to guide decision-making
- Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, React, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and AWS
- Familiarity with Go and AWS Nitro Enclaves (beneficial)
- Authorization to work lawfully in the United States (employer asks about work authorization and visa sponsorship)
