About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Working closely with the Director, Product Quality & Compliance and the Quality Team, lead the quality and compliance remit for assigned categories.
- Plan and coordinate rigorous 3rd party and in-house testing (e.g., comfort deflection, durability, chemical limits) throughout the product lifecycle.
- Build and maintain robust evidence files for all product claims to ensure ongoing substantiation can be achieved.
- Working with others in the Quality team, ensure compliance with the Illegal Logging Prohibition Act, for all timber and wood-based products.
- Stay ahead of changing local and global regulations and educate internal teams and suppliers on updates.
- Act as a consultant to our manufacturing partners, helping them understand and meet Koala’s technical and ethical standards.
- Review customer returns and warranty data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions with suppliers.
- Efficiently manage and lodge supplier claims for manufacturing faults, providing regular reporting to the finance team.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3-5 years in a Quality Assurance or Compliance role, ideally within hard furniture, soft furnishings, or textiles.
- Understanding of global furniture standards (E.g., EN / ISO / AU/NZ) including any regulatory mandatory safety requirements.
- A "Data Detective" mindset with the ability to read and interpret complex technical reports and legislation.
- Proficiency in root cause analysis (RCA) tools and a proactive approach to mitigating risks.
- Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and build trust with international suppliers.
