About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide day-to-day configuration and business support of Workday, focusing on Payroll, Absence, and Time Tracking modules
- Configure and maintain pay components, earnings and deductions, tax elections, garnishments, absence plans, time entry templates, time calculations, and scheduling rules
- Maintain Workday payroll and time production system security, organizational structures, business processes, tasks, notifications, system enhancements, and data entry support
- Apply security principles to Workday and third-party integrations
- Support payroll accounting, GL posting, journal validation, and financial reconciliation with Finance/Accounting
- Design and support EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, and Workday Studio integrations
- Develop reports, dashboards, worklets, scheduled reports, and composite, matrix, and advanced reports
- Collaborate with stakeholders to maximize existing processes and design system changes across Payroll, Absence, and Time Tracking
- Test configuration changes through unit testing and facilitate user acceptance testing
- Own semi-annual Workday releases for PATT, including impact assessments, regression testing, and feature adoption
- Manage required PATT reporting, year-end reporting, and related year-end activities
- Follow SDLC methodology and change management policies for production deployments
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventive controls
- Continuously improve system configuration and reporting
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Understand database architecture, tables, functional interactions, and downstream-system impacts
- Analyze and document business requirements and processes
- Coordinate with technical writers on documentation
- Support HCM Core configuration as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Required minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related degree, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience implementing and supporting Workday Payroll, Absence Management, and/or Time Tracking modules
- Workday Pro Payroll, Workday Pro Absence Management, or Workday Pro Time Tracking certification preferred
- Strong understanding of absence plans, time entry templates, time calculations, and scheduling complexity
- Strong understanding of payroll processes, time entry design, and payroll accounting/GL posting
- Experience with Workday implementation tools including EIB, Workday Studio, Workday Report Writer, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, and iLoad preferred
- History of leading and supporting successful projects
- Excellent knowledge of database reporting and analysis tools, including Excel
- Strong customer service skills and ability to assist system users with problems and questions
- Effective verbal, written, interpersonal, presentation, and management-level communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain relationships with third-party vendors and internal personnel
