About the role

  • Manages the daily financial operations of the John Paul II National Shrine including accounts receivables, payables, financial reporting, and Gift Shop operations
  • Ensures appropriate financial controls are in place, reviews allocation of expense and revenue, and ensures periodic financial reporting is completed accurately and timely
  • Supervises the accounts payable and receivable operations of the Shrine including the accurate collection and deposit of all funds received onsite
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate cash controls for Gift Shop, donations, etc
  • Ensures financial operations are in compliance with corporate policies and standard GAAP procedures
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the gift shop including managing staff, overseeing daily cash receipts and account reconciliation
  • Manages the semi-annual gift shop merchandise inventory
  • Ensures that periodic sales tax is remitted to the District of Columbia
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for the JPII Shrine with the KofC Accounting, Financial Reporting, and Procurement Departments

Requirements

  • Minimum BA or BS degree in relevant field
  • Minimum 10 years accounting or relevant management experience
  • Advanced Degree in accounting or other related field preferred
  • Excellent understanding of GAAP required
  • CPA or equivalent preferred
  • Experience working with diverse groups of people and providing exceptional customer service in a highly professional environment
  • Ability to communicate well at all levels of the organization and to interact with visitors, community leaders and with Roman Catholic hierarchy
  • Highly motivated and creative multi-tasker who can organize tasks and adhere to deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to supervise the work of others and to lead a team
  • Knowledge of the Catholic Faith and the life and legacy of John Paul II a plus
  • Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • SAP and COUPA or equivalents
