About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide industrial electrical/mechanical expertise to maximize equipment utilization and efficiency
- Develop and implement processes to maintain proper utilization and functionality
- Rectify electro-mechanical faults and resolve PLC-related issues
- Respond to emergency calls at customer sites
- Track problems through successful completion and provide first-class customer maintenance support
- Provide emergency breakdown and specialized maintenance support
- Set up and calibrate precision automation equipment
- Install conveyor and precision automation equipment
- Train the customer’s maintenance team as required
- Execute site quality, safety, and statutory procedures
- Maintain clear reports, communications, timesheets, and documentation
- Provide mechanical strip-down/reassembly, field wiring, machine calibration, and system testing
- Complete reactive repairs within required timeframes
- Interact with on-site management and communicate repair and maintenance progress
- Interpret electrical circuit diagrams and conduct risk assessments
- Operate hand tools and assemble/disassemble equipment
- Follow setup instructions, assembly drawings, and checklists
- Ensure proper care and maintenance of supplied tools and equipment
- Log spare-parts usage appropriately with the customer, KNAPP spare-parts team, or CMMS
- Attend regular meetings with maintenance and site management to discuss activities and progress
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience
- 3–8 years of verifiable progressive experience as a Maintenance Repairman, Maintenance Electrician, Machine Repairman, or Industrial Maintenance Engineer
- Verifiable repair experience with machinery systems, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Bilingual English/Spanish and/or English/German preferred but not required
- Extensive experience in equipment maintenance, modifications, and design preferred
- Strong problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to provide unique system interpretations or analyses to customers
- Process-oriented mentality
- Theoretical and operational experience repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLC-based machinery, highly automated and robotic equipment, and control systems
- Network equipment interface experience is a plus
- Hands-on, team-oriented, and committed to process improvement
- Experience reducing costs through processes and efficiencies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Safety-conscious approach and ability to perform risk assessments
- Mechanical aptitude, including reading assembly drawings
- Ability to operate hand tools and disassemble/assemble equipment
- Computer literacy with basic Microsoft Office skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt to changing role requirements
