About the role
- Competent care of patients before, during and after surgery
- Organization, coordination and independent execution of work processes
- Preparation of the operating room before and after surgery
- Preparation of operations, including instruments
- Acting as a circulating assistant (surgical runner) before, during and after surgery
- Instrumentation in various medical specialties
- Knowledgeable operation and handling of medical devices and materials
- Responsibility for hygiene measures and aseptic working practices
- Performing administrative tasks
Requirements
- Intermediate school-leaving certificate (Mittlerer Schulabschluss) or completion of another ten-year school education
- Lower secondary school-leaving certificate (Hauptschulabschluss) with successful completion of a vocational training program of at least two years
- Qualification as a nursing assistant or geriatric nursing assistant with at least one year of training
- Medical fitness/health clearance
- At least 16 years old at the start of the apprenticeship
