About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the Customs House Brokerage product area end to end, from problem framing through shipped and measured outcomes
- Own classification, entry construction and validation, ABI/ACE filing logic, PGA handling, and tariff logic including Section 232, Section 301, IEEPA/Section 122, and Chapter 99 stacking
- Identify manual-touch exceptions and drive them out through automated workflows
- Write acceptance criteria covering triggers, automated behavior, pass criteria, and failure modes without human action
- Co-own delivery with an engineering lead within the Bet / Shape / Build / Validate pod framework
- Ship prototypes as part of the product-thinking process
- Conduct discovery, prioritize against the Zero Touch Rate metric, define testable criteria, and ship quality products
- Design agentic systems that retrieve, reason, cite, score confidence, and escalate true exceptions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Real customs brokerage depth and knowledge of the entry lifecycle
- Knowledge of HTS classification, 7501, ISF, ABI/ACE/CATAIR mechanics, PGA, PSC, and PEA
- Ability to discuss Section 232, Section 301, IEEPA/Section 122, and Chapter 99 stacking
- Technical fluency in ingestion, extraction, APIs, integrations, deterministic rules, and probabilistic models
- Ability to read schemas, troubleshoot bugs, write engineering-respected requirements, prototype, and query data
- End-to-end product ownership in a complex, high-stakes domain
- Experience with product discovery, ruthless prioritization, testable acceptance criteria, and measured delivery
- AI-native working style using Claude, Cursor, Lovable, and v0
- Ability to design agentic systems with retrieval, reasoning, citations, confidence scoring, and exception escalation
- US broker license or field-earned equivalent is a strong plus
- Prior experience at a customs brokerage, freight forwarder, or trade-tech platform is a nice to have
- Familiarity with Canadian customs, CARM, CAD, LVS, restricted party screening, or refund/reconciliation workflows is a nice to have
