About the role
- Lead visual design for primary and secondary packaging across product lines.
- Develop packaging systems that communicate product benefits, hierarchy, and brand story.
- Create accurate mockups and presentations for internal, retail, and partner reviews.
- Design with production realities in mind (materials, finishes, cost implications, dielines).
- Execute licensed artwork integrations in compliance with partner style guides and approval processes.
- Prepare and organize files according to licensor specifications.
- Ensure licensed product maintains brand cohesion and premium presentation.
- Create original illustrations, prints, and graphic assets for packaging and product.
- Develop artwork that aligns with seasonal trends, color direction, and brand aesthetic.
- Ensure artwork is technically built for repeat, scale, and production requirements.
- Prepare final production files for vendors with a high level of precision.
- Manage color accuracy, spot colors, dielines, bleed, trapping, and finish callouts.
- Partner with vendors and production teams to ensure design integrity through manufacturing.
- Recommend finishes and print techniques that elevate the product within budget.
- Partner closely with Product Development, Marketing, Licensing, and Sales teams.
- Present design rationale clearly, balancing creative vision with business and production needs.
- Proactively identify risks, constraints, and solutions early in the process.
- Mentor junior designers in packaging, print, and illustration best practices.
- Contribute to creative direction for launches, collections, and seasonal stories.
- Help improve design systems, templates, and workflows.
Requirements
- 5–8+ years of graphic design experience, with significant focus on packaging design
- Strong portfolio demonstrating packaging, print, and licensed product work
- Background in illustration, surface design, or textile-inspired graphics
- Advanced knowledge of print production processes and file preparation
- Experience working with licensed brands/IP and approval workflows
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
- Familiarity with using AI tools responsibly
- Strong understanding of materials, finishes, and production limitations
- Excellent visual hierarchy, typography, and color sensibility
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
