About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Participates in the design of semi-complex systems that integrate hardware and software
- Write PLC code for semi-complex systems utilizing standard practices
- Provides support in semi-complex material specification, schematic preparation, bill-of-materials development, and appropriate follow-up
- Participates in recommending ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvement in customer satisfaction
- Independently run semi-complex projects through the project life cycle, including all design, documentation, and forecasting
- Assist in complex technical interchange and knowledge transfer for both processes and application of products to system design
- Troubleshoot programming and electrical issues that arise on site
- Interact directly with the customer on site
Requirements
What you’ll need- 2-8 years' experience in controls engineering
- Proficient in project planning, creating schematic and electrical layout drawings
- Working with PLCs and HMIs
- Implementation and commissioning of engineering design projects
- Current hands-on experience with Programmable Logic Controllers
- Expertise with Allen Bradley, Schneider Unity, or Siemens TIA Portal preferred
- Demonstrate a working understanding of design, layout and use of current networks such as Profibus, ASi, and Ethernet
- Experience in writing descriptions of operations and developments of controls based physical layouts
- Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Current experience with on-site startup/commissioning
- Experience with material handling systems preferred
- 4 year degree or equal in a related discipline
