About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Participates in the design of semi-complex systems that integrate hardware and software
  • Write PLC code for semi-complex systems utilizing standard practices
  • Provides support in semi-complex material specification, schematic preparation, bill-of-materials development, and appropriate follow-up
  • Participates in recommending ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvement in customer satisfaction
  • Independently run semi-complex projects through the project life cycle, including all design, documentation, and forecasting
  • Assist in complex technical interchange and knowledge transfer for both processes and application of products to system design
  • Troubleshoot programming and electrical issues that arise on site
  • Interact directly with the customer on site

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2-8 years' experience in controls engineering
  • Proficient in project planning, creating schematic and electrical layout drawings
  • Working with PLCs and HMIs
  • Implementation and commissioning of engineering design projects
  • Current hands-on experience with Programmable Logic Controllers
  • Expertise with Allen Bradley, Schneider Unity, or Siemens TIA Portal preferred
  • Demonstrate a working understanding of design, layout and use of current networks such as Profibus, ASi, and Ethernet
  • Experience in writing descriptions of operations and developments of controls based physical layouts
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Current experience with on-site startup/commissioning
  • Experience with material handling systems preferred
  • 4 year degree or equal in a related discipline
