Lead and manage the design and implementation of controls solutions for automated material handling systems
Produce PLC software and/or visualization systems (HMI/SCADA)
Emulate the control system in a virtual environment and test PLC software
Interpret electrical schematics and design input information
Ensure systems designed and supplied are CE Compliant to the Machinery Directive
Produce all associated documentation including design calculations, specifications, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, operation and maintenance manuals, and test specifications
Commission controls systems on site and provide support to system commissioning activities and training for the end user
Maintain good relationships with internal and external customers through high-quality service
Promote continuous improvement and development of processes to improve project time, cost and quality
Requirements
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering is desirable however those with a HNC/HND in Electrical/Mechatronics/Controls Engineering will also be considered
Ability to lead engineering activities autonomously on projects and provide support to other engineers in the team
Experience in designing controls systems in Siemens S7 or TIA Portal
Extensive proven hands-on experience working within an industrial automation environment
Advanced understanding of PLC development tools
Proficient with Industrial Networks such as Profinet, Profibus, ASi, EthernetIP or similar
Experience working with E-plan is desirable not essential
Good understanding of Electrical and Electronic technical manuals & drawings
Understanding of design requirements such as Machine Directive and its standards
Good understanding of distributed control systems
Extensive understanding of software testing and emulation
Full UK Driving Licence as the position will require travel up to 60% of the time to customer sites both in the UK and across EMEA
