Key business partner providing support to the execution team in relation to the management of the contracts(s) with the customer and suppliers by providing technical legal, contract interpretation and commercial support
Responsible for project set up e.g. contract summary, timetables, draft notices, key insurance requirements, deadlines, and time bars etc. to ensure contract provisions are followed
Identifies contractual risks and possible counter measures, documents same and works to implement tools and risk mitigation measures with project team
Develops templates and tools (or implements existing templates and tools) to ensure harmonized practice in project execution
Supports the project procurement team in negotiation and risk pass through to suppliers
Claims management (customer and suppliers)
Supporting the Legal Team in training and development of contract and commercial competency across the company
Developing professional relationships with both customers and internal stakeholders
Requirements
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a relevant industry—preferably within specialist equipment/system design, supply, installation, and commissioning for projects up to $50M, or within the broader construction sector
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Law, Quantity Surveying, Contract Management, or a related field (strong industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications)
A solid foundation in identifying, negotiating, administering, and managing contractual risks, with the ability to integrate technical, software, and project delivery issues into practical, commercially sound contract outcomes
Strong risk management expertise, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating issues before they impact project delivery
Proven ability to build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, including senior management, procurement teams, and project delivery personnel
Demonstrated capability in developing and maintaining strong relationships with external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and subcontractors
Exceptional organisational skills and a keen attention to detail
Excellent negotiation, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex commercial and contractual matters
Strong multitasking and prioritisation skills, able to manage competing demands in a fast-paced project environment
Willingness and ability to travel locally and interstate as project needs dictate
Availability for short-duration international travel as required
