About the role
- You identify potential improvements in the engineering process and prepare the supporting documentation
- You support the sales team during the sales phase by providing technical advice, cost estimation and developing project schedules
- You ensure that we have resources from the Controls Engineering team with the right skills to execute projects
- You act as the main point of contact for Controls Engineering
- Lead Controls Engineering project teams by assigning tasks and reporting
- Create and update project status reports, financial forecasts and plans
- Ensure cost control within Controls Engineering
- Document, escalate and manage Controls Engineering project risks and opportunities
- Ensure that all project quality gates for Controls Engineering are complied with
- Conduct regular safety audits during site visits and derive appropriate measures
- Ensure that procurement of materials and fabrication of control cabinets is executed according to schedule
- You perform design risk assessment and validation in the various execution phases of the project
- Ensure the creation of commissioning plans and provide progress updates
- Deliver Controls Engineering results and deliverables to the customer
- Assist in the preparation of functional specification documents and operating manuals in coordination with the technical department
Requirements
- Degree in engineering or comparable qualification
- Experience in a similar role in project engineering with exposure to budgeting, planning, scheduling and risk management
- Experience in an industrial automation environment
- Experience leading project teams on complex projects
- Working knowledge of PLC and control systems, circuit diagrams and basic electrical engineering
- Working knowledge of ISO standards governing the automated warehousing industry
- Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time (depending on project phase)
- Good communication skills, strong organizational ability and a proactive approach
- Familiarity with MS Project, JIRA and other project management tools
- Understanding and application of relevant design requirements such as the Machinery Directive and safety standards
