About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead, support, or consult on capital process improvement projects with a financial scope of up to $100 million from conception through commercialization.
- Provide functional leadership and creativity in the initiation, design, development, and optimization of manufacturing and converting equipment and processes to meet safety and OEE objectives.
- Develop knowledge and skills in leadership of the application of engineering principles, scientific analysis, and project management.
- Carry out all job responsibilities in a safe manner.
- Develop equipment and processes that meet safety codes, policies and guidelines.
- Provide for the safety and well-being of operators, maintenance, and other personnel.
- Identify complex technical issues and provide necessary solutions to eliminate root cause.
- Conceive, develop, validate, and share ideas leading to new or improved products, processes, materials, systems or scientific knowledge aligned with business unit objectives.
- Coach and mentor team members to increase technical understanding of equipment and processes and their ability to execute programs to improve NA tissue value stream business results.
- Share expertise and provide coaching to build team capability.
- Drive a culture of protected and documented innovation to protect and defend K-C proprietary technology, products, and business processes through appropriate use of patents and trade secrets.
Requirements
What you’ll need- A bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant scientific degree
- 8-12+ years of related technical experience in mill, production or staff engineering environments
- Specific, technical knowledge and process expertise in rolled and folded tissue and/or towel manufacturing processes (preferred)
- Prior experience in a variety of plant and staff assignments, ideally including maintenance and operations (preferred)
- Familiarity with machine startups (preferred)
- Strong analytical skills and ability to mine process data from process data systems (preferred)
- Experience in improving the operation of high-speed manufacturing and/or converting equipment and processes (preferred)
- Evidence of continuing self-development (preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and coach less-experienced engineers (preferred)
