About the role

  • This position provides executional leadership for automation projects which will impact various locations in the North America Supply Chain.
  • You will partner with the other team members within automation, staff and the mills, along with working closely with our vendors and suppliers.
  • This role will own execution of engineering, layout and execution of material movement automation strategy and lead the implementation of Automation solutions for our key supply chain opportunity areas in distribution and manufacturing.
  • Drive the development and execution of North America Automation capital projects as projects are assigned.
  • Focus for this role will be to lead and leverage TSP teams in developing and executing tasks related to layout, installment, capacity and delivery on K-C project objectives.
  • Drive overall TSP engagement as part of the Automation Project Portfolio.
  • Ensure value engineering/cost savings activities are prioritized and executed.
  • Ensure all work complies with Corporate Safety, Regulatory, and Quality requirements.
  • Effectively collaborate with a cross-functional team that includes Logistics, Supply Chain, mill operations, procurement, equipment suppliers and with a focus on external service providers.
  • This includes completing required project documentation through EFS, EDR, and Appropriation activities and Corporate Financial Instructions (CFIs).
  • Carry out all job responsibilities in a safe manner; set the example for others in the area of safety.
  • Develop equipment and processes that meet safety codes, policies and guidelines.
  • Lead design discussions with Mill and Central teams to review Scope, obtain alignment and feedback – Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Logistics, EHS, IT.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant discipline (e.g. Science or Engineering related)
  • Expertise in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering or Mechatronics with a demonstrated ability to translate that knowledge into execution of process and capacity improvements in capital or expense projects.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and delivering on capital projects - management/execution
  • Ability and flexibility to work in a distribution or manufacturing environment with a 24/7 operation
  • Ability to travel up to 50% as dictated by business need for meetings, design/develop and start-up support, benchmarking, or best practice sharing across North America
  • Experience in the design requirement and safe operation of high-speed tissue manufacturing / Tissue Converting, high-speed personal care product manufacturing equipment and Logistics/Distribution facilities processes with an ability to translate that knowledge in support of automation implementation projects.
  • Experience in a combination of engineering, operations, and/or leadership
  • Experience with logistics and/or manufacturing automation technologies such as AGVs, AMRs, 6 axis robotics, etc. with desire to grow and employ that knowledge as a subject matter expert.
  • Related technical experience includes various roles at both mill/staff locations and/or cross-sector experiences.
  • Demonstrated success in managing TSPs supporting project execution.
  • Familiarity with capital project management, equipment installations and start-ups.
