Occupational Safety Technician

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and maintain the Risk Inventory and the PGR Action Plan updated by area/process/function (PGR = Risk Management Program).
- Perform safety inspections.
- Verify the effectiveness of controls following the hierarchy of controls (engineering/collective protective measures → administrative → PPE).
- Integrate exposure and risk data from the PGR to support the PCMSO coordinating physician.
- Support management of work restrictions and reassignment with HR and operations, maintaining confidentiality (the company receives fit/unfit/restrictions information without medical diagnoses).
- Plan and deliver mandatory trainings and campaigns (third-party onboarding, NR-12, NR-10, NR-35, correct use of PPE, emergency procedures).
- Conduct Daily Safety Dialogues (DDS) and safety talks focused on incidents, near-misses, and critical risks.
- Support SIPAT and engagement programs (safety targets, recognition for best practices).
- Define PPE in collaboration with operational areas by risk/activity, ensure valid CA when applicable, and provide guidance on use, cleaning, and replacement.
- Support standardization of safety signage and risk communication.
- Receive, record, and investigate incidents, near-misses, and accidents.
- Prepare reports and manage action plans with assigned owners, deadlines, and supporting evidence.
- Monitor KPIs (e.g., frequency/severity rates, near-misses, % of PGR actions completed, % of trainings completed).
- Maintain organized OHS evidence for internal/external audits: PGR, trainings, PPE records, inspections, reports, and plans.
- Support interface with regulatory authorities when necessary, under coordination.
- Oversee safe execution of services in industrial areas.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Completed Technical Degree in Occupational Safety (recognized/accredited).
- Active MTE registration.
- NR-1 (GRO/PGR): risk inventory, action plan, hierarchy of controls.
- NR-6 (PPE): selection, control, record, guidance, CA (approval certificate).
- NR-7 (PCMSO/ASO): interface with medical exams, control of deadlines and restrictions.
- NR-10, NR-17, NR-23, and NR-35 (as applicable to store scope).
- Management tools: Excel, reporting, KPIs, checklists, audits.
- Experience in industrial/food environments performing inspections and routine activities.
- Experience delivering safety trainings and campaigns.
- Incident investigation experience.
