About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct investigations of confirmed fraud and suspicious activity requiring high-risk review
  • Mitigate losses and potential risks
  • Manage the investigative workbench and meet SLAs
  • Conduct and make decisions on investigations and review investigations for quality alerts
  • Identify potential onboarding and retention risk
  • Mentor and train newly hired investigators and serve as a department SME
  • Verify and validate customer information and transaction activity using internal and external systems
  • Formulate and clearly articulate supportable rationales for investigation outcomes, including SAR or customer retention decisions
  • Partner with Lines of Business to clarify and document client or banking relationship risk factors
  • Resolve matters where supporting documentation inadequately describes client risk
  • Develop rapport and communicate with Compliance and Lines of Business partners
  • Identify and escalate conflicting or inconsistent information in customer profiles
  • Recommend and help implement improvements to policies, procedures, and processes
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Comply with KeyBank policies, procedures, ethical standards, and client interests

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, criminal justice, intelligence studies or related field (preferred)
  • 2+ years of investigative, relevant banking, customer contact and/or law enforcement experience (required)
  • CAMS certification (preferred)
  • CFE certification (preferred)
  • Other related industry certification (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of organizational information disclosure practices and policies
  • Working knowledge of risk assessment and risk control processes, tools, and techniques
  • Working knowledge of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques
  • Working knowledge of collaborative techniques
  • Extensive experience completing tasks with high levels of precision
  • Basic understanding of major products, services, and product/service groups
  • Ability to achieve planned outcomes using assigned and back-channel resources
  • Extensive experience with analytical techniques and tools, root-cause analysis, and alternative solution development
  • Extensive experience with decision-making processes and tools
  • Working knowledge of financial crimes policies and procedures
  • Working knowledge of financial crime detection, prevention, and response processes
  • Working knowledge of the federal, state, and local regulatory environment
  • Working knowledge of data-gathering and reporting tools, techniques, and processes
  • Knowledge of anti-money laundering laws, regulations, and guidance, including BSA and KYC
  • Ability to communicate face to face, by phone, and using a PC/laptop
  • Ability to lift/push/pull computer bags or backpacks up to 10 lbs.
