About the role

  • The Sales Engineer Ceramics L. America is responsible for managing key accounts and developing new business for Kennametal’s Ceramics division specifically related to the evaporator boat product line.
  • The ideal candidate is a true self starter, who proactively and aggressively pursues market share growth and grows/ maintains customer relationships.
  • This role is responsible for running a territory like a business as an “owner”, closing deals, and solidifying loyal repeat buyers.
  • Proficiency in English, Portuguese and Spanish is key to being able to interact with technical and shop floor personnel.
  • Customer focused to maintain existing relationships and grow new ones to reach sales objectives.
  • Maximize market share by developing customer intimacy to understand the value proposition.
  • Support global management in sales forecasting, plan preparation, and receivables collection.
  • Manager all customer communications, coordinating with internal teams: sales, production, engineering, and R&D.
  • Utilize CRM to manage activities within the territory and maintain sales knowledge.
  • Support global management in defining the market approach on selected priorities.
  • Support product management in managing product portfolio (e.g. rationalization, qualifications, developments).
  • Support marketing in building market intelligence and disseminating throughout the Ceramics organization.
  • Manage the sales process from proposal to close including negotiate pricing and agreements.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks.
  • Drive the Kennametal cultural beliefs of Customer First, Everyone Matters, Own It, Be Bold, Focus Now.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Business Administration or related discipline required as a minimum.
  • 5+ years of sales and direct customer interface experience.
  • Proven commercial understanding with a track record of developing and executing commercial strategies and action plans.
  • Basic materials knowledge of non-oxide technical ceramics and polymer chemistry (helpful).
  • Knowledge of INCOTERMS and logistics related to air and sea freight shipments.
  • Fluency in English, Portuguese and Spanish with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong business and commercial acumen.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and executive presence.
  • A process-oriented mindset supported in applying sales productivity tools and systems (CRM, SAP, etc. ).
  • Team-player but also has ability to be a self-starter.
  • Structured and analytical style of working.
  • Proficiency with IT skills (MS Office, SAP).
  • Ability to travel frequently across the territory including staying overnight (up to 50% travel)
  • Able to cooperate effectively on different levels externally and on lateral level KMT internally.
  • Excellent planning, organization and time management skills.
