About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and lead the organization's business development and market strategy
- Identify and pursue new market opportunities, strategic partnerships, and commercial agreements
- Structure and negotiate complex, long-term agreements with partners, customers, and service providers
- Build and maintain a strong external network across relevant industries and stakeholder groups
- Conduct ongoing market analysis and competitive intelligence to inform strategic direction
- Develop risk identification and mitigation frameworks related to commercial exposure
- Represent the organization externally at industry events and contribute to brand positioning
- Recruit, build, and lead a business development team over time
- Contribute as a key member of the senior leadership team
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in a business, technical, or related field
- 15+ years of progressive experience in business development, commercial strategy, or a related function
- Proven track record of developing and managing large-scale, long-term commercial agreements
- Strong strategic planning capability with an ability to think and operate across long time horizons
- Demonstrated leadership experience including team building and performance management
- Self-starting, entrepreneurial approach — comfortable in a lean, growth-stage environment
- Ability to travel internationally on a regular basis
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Post-graduate degree or executive education credentials (preferred)
- Experience in capital-intensive or project-driven industries (preferred)
- Familiarity with complex multi-party contracting structures (preferred)
- International commercial experience (preferred)
