About the role

  • Provide technical authority across HV/LV electrical systems, substations and network infrastructure (up to 132kV+).
  • Lead system analysis and modelling, including load flow and power quality studies, short‑circuit analysis, network planning, capacity assessment, arc‑flash assessments, and electrical safety compliance.
  • Lead development and approval of electrical documentation including SLDs, schematics, cable schedules, control logic, design reports and technical specifications.
  • Lead CT/VT sizing and burden requirements based on system parameters.
  • Set protection relay settings and produce detailed settings reports.
  • Guide equipment selection and application for transformers, switchgear, protection devices, auxiliary systems and network assets.
  • Ensure seamless integration across disciplines — Primary, Secondary, Earthing & Bonding, SCADA, Civil and Delivery teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering accredited under the Washington Accord (or equivalent recognised by Engineers Australia).
  • Chartered Engineer (CPEng / RPEQ / RPEV) — or ability to attain shortly.
  • Extensive experience delivering complex power engineering solutions for transport, utilities, renewables or major infrastructure clients.
  • Proven track record as a technical lead or technical authority on multidisciplinary design projects.
  • Strong technical depth in HV/LV power system design, Protection & Control, Secondary System studies, AC/DC Auxiliary systems, SCADA Systems, network studies, substations, and electrical infrastructure.
  • Experience with DNSPs/TNSPs and/or major rail operators highly desirable.
  • MTM Accreditation (Design/Check/Approve) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent client‑facing communication, leadership presence, and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex scopes, competing priorities and high‑quality outcomes within fast‑paced project environments.
