About the role

  • Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies for multiple Agile teams (daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives)
  • Coach teams and leaders on Agile best practices, fostering continuous improvement and scalable delivery
  • Work closely with Product Owners to ensure well‑defined and prioritized backlogs aligned with program goals
  • Identify, track, and remove impediments to maintain team productivity and sprint commitments
  • Guide teams in the use of Agile metrics and reporting tools, including velocity, burndown charts, and predictive analytics for release planning
  • Support PI planning, cross‑team coordination, risk management, and program‑level communication
  • Promote adherence to the Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC) and other compliance standards required by federal programs
  • Collaborate with engineering leads to ensure alignment between sprint work, architecture direction, and technical standards
  • Champion a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous delivery
  • Serve as a mentor to junior Scrum Masters and Agile team members

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, Atmospheric Science, or related discipline)
  • Minimum 8 years of experience leading technical and/or scientific efforts for federal agencies
  • Proven experience serving as Scrum Master for technical teams involving software engineering, systems engineering, and/or DevOps
  • Industry‑recognized Scrum Master certification (e.g., CSM, PSM I+)
  • Strong understanding of Agile frameworks, practices, and scaling approaches
  • Experience using Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
  • Solid knowledge of the Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC)
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, adapt quickly, and collaborate effectively in dynamic environments
  • Team‑oriented mindset with humility, empathy, and alignment to the NWS mission
