About the role

  • Build and mature engineering capability across people, process, tools and culture to meet current and future project needs
  • Assess capability maturity, define metrics and address capability gaps across the organisation
  • Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to uplift capability enablement and delivery effectiveness
  • Develop and maintain best-practice engineering frameworks, architectures and artefacts within the Engineering Management System
  • Evaluate and integrate internal and external models into enterprise and engineering frameworks
  • Define end-to-end architecture solutions aligned to business needs, technology standards and roadmaps
  • Grow and maintain the digital engineering knowledge base to support reuse, adoption and delivery efficiency
  • Engage with defence clients, project teams and industry partners to shape technical strategies and roadmaps
  • Ensure compliance with defence standards and cybersecurity requirements
  • Capture user feedback and continuously improve models, environments and tools
  • Integrate supplier and customer models into broader system and enterprise architectures
  • Produce clear technical documentation and reporting on capability status and performance
  • Support the deployment and ongoing enhancement of digital engineering environments, infrastructure and services

Requirements

  • BSc/BA in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and commensurate certifications with relevant professional body.
  • 8+ years’ experience in systems engineering, including digital design, integration and architecture in defence, aerospace or other regulated environments
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycles (e.g. waterfall, agile, spiral) and modern delivery concepts such as speed to capability and minimal viable capability
  • Proven ability to develop and document architectures, models, processes and engineering artefacts
  • Experience working with operational concepts, models and stakeholder inputs to deliver high-value outcomes
  • Sound knowledge of configuration management, engineering change and related technical disciplines (e.g. system safety, cybersecurity)
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including mentoring technical teams
  • Knowledge of defence engineering standards and eligibility for Australian Government security clearance (NV1 or higher)
