About the role

  • Assessing the structural integrity of gas turbines to support growing demand for our services from clients in the aerospace and power industries.
  • Conducting strength, fatigue, creep and defect tolerance assessments of safety critical parts using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) methods.
  • Writing bespoke software tools to assess components more quickly.
  • Delivering and leading projects across the Frazer-Nash portfolio, supporting customers in the defence, energy and transport sectors.
  • Meeting and communicating with customers to understand their requirements and develop the approach to deliver the desired outcomes and insights.
  • Working across the business and with clients in a consultancy environment.

Requirements

  • A degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • Technical knowledge in the mechanical / structural engineering domain.
  • In-depth experience of advanced Finite Element Analysis such as cracked-body modelling, modelling material non-linearities, authoring user sub-routines and using software such as Abaqus, Ansys or SC03.
  • Experience in strength, fatigue (low cycle and high cycle fatigue), creep and fracture assessments.
  • Experience in a technical consultancy environment (advantageous).
  • Experience of business development (advantageous).
  • Experience of building client relationships (advantageous).
  • Experience of project management (advantageous).
  • Experience of leading large and/or multi-disciplinary projects (advantageous).
  • Experience of delivering complex technical work in a commercial environment (advantageous).
