About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Independently manage all phases of employment litigation from inception through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation-related filings
- Conduct and defend depositions and participate in mediations, settlement negotiations, and other dispute resolution proceedings
- Attend and advocate at court appearances, hearings, arbitrations, administrative proceedings, and trials
- Handle matters involving employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, PAGA claims, and other employment-related matters
- Represent employers in investigations and proceedings before federal, state, and local agencies
- Advise and counsel employers on workplace issues, employment law compliance, personnel matters, and risk management strategies
- Manage discovery, motion practice, investigations, and case deadlines in both state and federal courts
- Communicate directly with clients, provide strategic guidance, and maintain strong client relationships
- Collaborate with attorneys across offices and practice groups to develop litigation strategies and achieve favorable outcomes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active admission to the California Bar in good standing required
- Minimum of 4 years of employment litigation experience
- Experience handling California employment litigation matters in state and federal courts
- Demonstrated experience drafting and arguing motions, conducting depositions, and managing complex litigation matters
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
- Ability to independently manage an active caseload and prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to exceptional client service
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment while maintaining responsiveness and collaboration with clients and colleagues
