About the role
- We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead one of our platform teams.
- This team plays a critical role in shaping and optimizing our internal platforms, focusing on Identity & Access Management (IAM), mailing services, and our backend architecture.
- As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a highly skilled team that defines the company’s technical foundation.
- You are not afraid to get your hands dirty by actively contributing to development efforts, with a focus on backend technologies such as Golang and PHP (among others).
- You are responsible for advancing your team members’ skills and careers and for inspiring them through purpose.
- You develop, monitor and own the relevant KPIs for your teams (cost, SLAs, SLIs, etc.).
- You contribute to our guidelines, policies, and standards to improve how we work.
Requirements
- You have experience in a product team, focusing on choosing the right technical solutions and owning products end-to-end.
- You have several years of hands-on engineering experience with Golang and familiarity with PHP.
- Initial leadership experience through mentoring, coaching, or in a managerial position is beneficial but not required. We’re looking for someone passionate about people management who wants to grow into an Engineering Manager role.
- You have experience using cloud and infrastructure resources and are familiar with tools like Kubernetes.
- Your communication and interpersonal skills are strong, enabling effective collaboration with product teams.
- You are fluent in English (C1) and enjoy working in an international environment.
- You have a results-oriented approach, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality solutions.
Benefits
- Create your own work–life balance: choose between remote work (within Germany) or working from one of our locations in Cologne, Darmstadt, Düsseldorf, or our co‑working space in Berlin.
- Relocation support: we offer an attractive relocation package to help you move to Germany.

- Deutschlandticket: we subsidize your public transport season ticket for greater mobility.
- Employee discount: receive a monthly coupon for Kaufland.de.
- Free choice of operating system: MacOS or Ubuntu Linux — it’s up to you.
