About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform full-stack application development for the Decennial Budget Integration Tool (DBiT) Support Services contract with the U.S. Census Bureau
  • Design, build, enhance, maintain, and optimize business logic, data-access layers, user interfaces, and the existing codebase
  • Build frontend features using Angular and React
  • Develop backend services using Java and related frameworks, including Hibernate, Stripes, and Spring
  • Develop RESTful services and microservices where appropriate
  • Work in an Agile Scrum execution team to meet contract deliverables, program milestones, reporting requirements, and program objectives
  • Analyze and develop new or modified business, functional, and technical requirements
  • Adhere to ADSD standards for programming, user interface, and configuration management
  • Partner with server administrators to configure automated builds, tests, and deployments using Jenkins and GitHub Actions
  • Support legacy-code modernization and automation of manual processes through the CI/CD pipeline
  • Maintain code, scripts, and configuration files in GitHub Enterprise with traceability to Jira work items
  • Use Jira to manage assigned work and request approval for changes and deployments
  • Document requirements, processes, procedures, meeting notes, and discovered requirements in Confluence
  • Participate in daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and other Agile Scrum activities
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
  • May provide technical guidance and peer review to mid-level and junior developers, without direct supervisory authority
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be able to meet and maintain eligibility requirements for a Public Trust position in accordance with Department of Commerce and OPM requirements
  • U.S. work authorization is required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Additional experience may substitute for the degree
  • Master's preferred
  • Eight (8) or more years of professional software development experience across frontend and backend technologies
  • Demonstrated experience developing with Java and related frameworks (Hibernate, Spring, Stripes, or similar) and with Angular and/or React
  • Experience developing RESTful services and microservices
  • Experience with source control (GitHub Enterprise) and CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Agile / Scrum practices in a Government CI/CD environment
  • Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks
  • Must have or be able to attain a valid state driver's license and be insurable on the company's automobile insurance policy
