About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and deploy machine learning models to identify high-risk, high-cost members before expensive acute services
- Research claims and EHR data to identify opportunities for clinical interventions that reduce adverse-event risk
- Analyze total cost of care, utilization, and patient attribution against baseline value-based care contracts
- Implement validation techniques for model accuracy, fairness, and consistency on noisy clinical and claims data
- Collaborate with Engineering and Analytics teams to surface modeling insights in applications and BI reports
- Ensure compliance with healthcare data regulations, including HIPAA and HITRUST, and implement data-security best practices
- Work with Data Engineering, Product, and Clinical teams to build the Karoo platform’s analytics and predictive capabilities
- Translate complex model outputs and technical findings into clear narratives for clinical, business, and executive stakeholders
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in an advanced analysis or Data Science role
- Experience with payer claims files and other healthcare data formats, including FHIR and HL7
- Expert-level Python/R and SQL skills
- Proven track record of building and deploying production-grade machine-learning models, including regression, classification, clustering, or neural networks
- Familiarity with HIPAA and HITRUST compliance requirements for sensitive patient data
- Exceptional ability to translate complex technical findings into clear narratives for executive and clinical audiences
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must not require employer sponsorship now or in the future
