About the role
- Lead and manage the DevOps team by setting clear priorities, coaching performance, and holding accountability across M365, Linux, Windows, database, and cloud functions.
- Directly manage experienced technical professionals and are accountable for their performance, growth, and engagement, building a culture of ownership and trust where expectations are clear and success is measurable through regular coaching, feedback, and performance conversations.
- Define and enforce DevSecOps standards that embed automation, security, and compliance into CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure provisioning, and operational workflows, aligned to NIST 800-171.
- Operate and optimize cloud infrastructure across AWS, GovCloud, and Azure, with accountability for uptime, scalability, disaster recovery readiness, patching, and cost optimization.
- Enable application delivery by partnering closely with Application Development and Software Architecture to ensure tools, environments, and pipelines support fast, secure, and predictable releases.
- Serve as senior escalation during incidents by diagnosing and resolving complex Linux, database, and infrastructure issues, and ensuring “Power of Three” coverage across critical systems.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure, or cloud engineering, with 3+ years directly managing technical professionals, including performance reviews, prioritization, coaching, and accountability.
- 5–10+ years of hands-on cloud experience, where you personally designed, built, and operated infrastructure, not just overseen it.
- Demonstrated experience supporting regulated or compliance-driven environments such as NIST, CJIS, FedRAMP, or similar frameworks, including audit readiness and evidence generation.
- Deep expertise in automation and Infrastructure as Code practices using modern IaC frameworks and tooling to provision, harden, and operate cloud environments. (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
- Strong technical depth in Linux system administration and databases such as MS-SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or Aurora.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and alerting (CloudWatch, Pingdom, Sentry), and vulnerability management (Tenable, SonarQube).
- Comfort serving as senior escalation during incidents, diagnosing and resolving complex infrastructure, Linux, or database issues under pressure.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to translate strategy into clear priorities and measurable outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience developing other engineers through coaching, feedback, and delegation, resulting in measurable improvement in team performance or ownership.
- Willingness to hold people accountable through clear, direct conversations when priorities, commitments, or results are not on track.
- A proactive, resourceful, and internally driven mindset that thrives in a transparent, collaborative environment.
