About the role
- Lead the design and release of mechanical assemblies, layouts, and BOMs within larger system projects
- Ensure mechanical designs align with system-level requirements, manufacturability, and cost targets
- Perform calculations, tolerance analysis, and design reviews to guarantee reliability of equipment
- Collaborate with controls, electrical, and software teams to align system integration
- Support FAT, SAT, and commissioning through hands-on troubleshooting and validation
- Interface with suppliers, offshore teams, and manufacturing to ensure designs are built and installed successfully
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and feedback on future system designs
- Travel up to 30% to support customer integration projects
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
- 2–5 years of mechanical design experience in automation, capital equipment, or material handling
- Proven ability to deliver mechanical designs that integrate into complex systems on time and to scope
- Proficient in 3D CAD modeling and mechanical documentation (e.g., Inventor, AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
- Comfortable working on-site to validate and integrate designs in live system environments
- Knowledge of materials, fabrication methods, and GD&T
- Ability to independently execute mechanical design tasks within multi-disciplinary projects
- Strong communication skills for cross-functional and customer-facing collaboration.
