About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Plan, design, document, and permit proposed new outside plant FTTx build-outs.
Produce high-quality deliverables for buried, underground, and aerial fiber applications.
Read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for Telecom/FFTx OSP construction.
Create and review fiber assignments (schematics), high-level designs, and low-level designs.
Communicate with project managers, the permitting team, and field personnel to produce accurate deliverables according to deadlines, client expectations, and JSI standards.
Continuously improve job-related tasks and processes, technical and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.
Complete other tasks as assigned by the manager or supervisor.

Requirements

What you’ll need

HS Diploma or GED required.
3+ years of experience in telecom engineering and design is required.
Working knowledge of GIS, including ArcGIS/QGIS/Google Earth, etc.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD or other CAD-based software.
Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for Telecom/FFTx OSP construction.
Must possess intermediate skills in basic programs like Microsoft Office, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
Highly organized, self-starter, and detail-oriented.
Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
Superior time management and strong attention to detail.
A post-secondary degree in engineering, GIS, or a related field is desired.
