About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary environment according to the Master Sanitation Schedule
  • Provide production personnel with chemical supplies using safe handling practices and reinforce chemical training expectations
  • Perform post-cleaning inspections of production equipment and take corrective action as needed
  • Keep the chemical room clean and orderly
  • Deep clean floor scrubbers and chemical application equipment
  • Clean drains according to established procedures
  • Inspect and maintain cleanliness of breakrooms, locker rooms, restrooms, and other common areas
  • Remove snow from emergency exit walkways when required by weather
  • Count inventory of chemicals, cleaning supplies, and PPE
  • Identify areas needing attention and address or report them
  • Perform, assist, oversee, and inspect production equipment cleaning
  • Identify and accurately report defective materials, food safety hazards, and potential product contaminants
  • Locate and apply SSOPs
  • Follow procedures for handling cleaning chemicals and for cleaning biohazard spills or accidents
  • Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, floor scrubbers, steamers, industrial vacuums, and floor vacuums
  • Understand and reference Safety Data Sheets for chemical handling and education
  • Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor
  • Work during production shutdowns and on a variable midnight shift scheduled weekly based on business needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Good attendance as defined by the attendance policy
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow detailed controlled-process instructions, including chemical use, cleaning systems, and safety procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret Safety Data Sheets
  • Understanding of, adherence to, and promotion of safe working practices
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize work responsibilities within the assigned area
  • Detail-oriented and able to perform tasks according to procedures without variation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and plant personnel or departments
  • Ability to prevent product or food-contact-surface contamination
  • Understanding and adherence to allergen-control procedures, GMPs, and safety standards
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to work in a scissor lift at elevated heights occasionally
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, climb, or squat occasionally
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on production needs
  • Ability to work the midnight shift from 6:45pm to 7:00am on a non-set weekly schedule
