About the role
- Hybrid role combining responsibilities of a Vessel Engineer and Senior Vessel Engineer, reporting to the Fleet Engineering Manager
- Ensure the safe mechanical operations of vessels and uphold engineering training standards
- Oversee machinery space condition and competency of Vessel Engineers, focusing on their professional development
- Manage the vessel visit and inspection program to ensure compliance and safety
- Oversee training and development requirements for Vessel Engineers and assess performance, providing coaching
- Assist in drafting and implementing vessel engineering SOPs, documents, and touch drills
- Ensure vocational training aligns with career progression pathways for Vessel Engineers, MED2, and MED3
- Conduct audits and oversee the training of vessel HELM records and onboard users
- Facilitate on-the-job training for MEDs to promote personal and professional growth
- Collaborate with the Fleet Engineering Manager to maintain the highest standards of mechanical operations
- Maintain high levels of guest service and operational reliability
Requirements
- MAR40220 Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 NC)
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid & Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- HLTAID015 Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy
- Responsible Service of Alcohol (QLD)
- Working with Children’s Check (Blue Card)
- Experience within the Marine Tourism industry and high-speed vessels highly preferred
- Strong technical background with extensive knowledge of marine engines and systems
- Experience with installations and conducting risk assessments
- Commitment to excellent guest service
- Strong organisational skills and keen attention to detail
- Intermediate computer literacy, including proficiency with maintenance management software and data entry
