About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the identification, triage, and tiering of elevated-risk loans across the servicing portfolio
  • Identify emerging risk patterns and calibrate risk identification across the portfolio
  • Direct the dedicated Special Assets team, including priorities, performance, processes, and reporting standards
  • Develop training to strengthen risk identification across asset management teams
  • Own the risk rating framework and governance for transitioning loans to and from Special Assets
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on loss mitigation strategy for highest-risk loans
  • Direct execution of mitigation plans across the broader portfolio
  • Deliver regular reporting and risk insights to senior leadership and asset management teams
  • Represent Special Assets in communications with agency partners on watchlist and workout matters
  • Benchmark and evolve Special Assets policies, tools, and processes
  • Physically inspect residences, common areas, and comparable properties as needed
  • Travel occasionally to different time zones, potentially requiring overnight lodging

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Workout experience preferred, but not required
  • Deep knowledge of real estate markets, valuation methodologies, and loan structures
  • Strong working knowledge of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac servicing guides, watchlist criteria, and reporting requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop asset management professionals
  • Strong time management skills and ability to operate under demanding deadlines
  • Ability to multitask and manage several elevated-risk relationships simultaneously
  • Ability to recognize, prioritize, and mitigate risk at individual-loan and portfolio levels
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Undergraduate degree in a business-related field such as Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, or Business
  • Eight or more years of experience in multifamily and/or commercial real estate finance, asset management, loan servicing, or property management
  • Direct exposure to Fannie Mae and/or Freddie Mac servicing requirements
  • Ability to physically inspect residences and common areas, including standing, walking, climbing stairs, sitting, reaching, and bending
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
