About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Operates and maintains heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems to ensure building comfort and energy efficiency
Performs preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, pumps, and motors according to established schedules
Regular monitoring of building automation systems and energy management systems to identify and resolve operational issues
Diagnoses problems and performs repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
Responds to emergency calls and service requests from multiple locations, coordinating with property management teams and tenants
Ensures all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations including building codes, safety standards, and environmental requirements
Travels between assigned properties, prioritizes work orders, and communicates status updates to facility managers and clients

Requirements

What you’ll need

A high school diploma or equivalent is required
Technical training in building systems, HVAC, or related fields strongly preferred
Valid stationary or universal engineer's license appropriate to the jurisdiction is typically required
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities operations, or a related technical field
Experience with commercial building systems, building automation systems, and computerized maintenance management software is valuable
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
Physical capability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and perform tasks in various weather conditions
A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is necessary for travel between properties
