About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive the development and execution of comprehensive research strategies for mature and emerging data center markets across North America.
  • Lead primary and secondary research initiatives that position JLL as the definitive source of data center market intelligence.
  • Conduct deep-dive analysis of data center supply, demand, pricing trends, and investment flows.
  • Track and analyze market activity across the industry’s leading developers, operators, tenants, and investors.
  • Develop sophisticated forecasting models for colocation, hyperscale, on-prem and edge computing segments.
  • Monitor regulatory developments, sustainability initiatives, and technological shifts impacting the sector.
  • Author flagship research reports, market outlooks, and articles that establish JLL as a trusted voice in the data center space.
  • Present findings at industry conferences, client events, and media briefings.
  • Collaborate with global research teams to ensure consistency and leverage international insights.
  • Provide strategic research support for client engagements across capital markets, facility management and occupier services.
  • Develop bespoke research deliverables for institutional investors, developers, and technology companies.
  • Support pitch presentations and new business development initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key industry players including data center operators, cloud service providers, telecommunications companies, and institutional investors.
  • Engage with government agencies and industry associations to stay ahead of policy and regulatory developments.
  • Collaborate with research analysts and associates across business lines and geographies.
  • Contribute to a culture of analytical excellence and innovation.
  • Partner with business line leaders to ensure research output aligns with commercial objectives.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, real estate, or a related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in commercial real estate research, with prior data center sector experience strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of data center industry fundamentals (power, cooling, connectivity) and market dynamics including development activity, major players, and investment trends.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing, edge infrastructure, and sustainability considerations shaping sector demand.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, with experience presenting to clients.
  • Strong quantitative skills and proficiency in data visualization.
