About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage customs broker and freight forwarder relationships, including onboarding, powers of attorney, service expectations, SOP updates, contact management, billing coordination, and ongoing performance oversight.
  • Obtain and maintain DePuy Synthes powers of attorney for designated brokers and service providers.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Trade Operations, suppliers, customs brokers, forwarders, managed service providers, and internal stakeholders to support import clearance, supplier readiness, and compliant trade execution.
  • Develop, document, and maintain broker and supplier work instructions, standard operating procedures, and process controls to ensure import clearance activities are performed consistently and in alignment with global trade policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor supplier, broker, and third-party adherence to contracts, global processes, service-level expectations, and trade compliance standards, escalating gaps or performance concerns as needed.
  • Oversee Importer Security Filing processes by coordinating with designated brokers and suppliers, validating filing activity, and using available broker tools and reporting to monitor compliance and issue resolution.
  • Manage broker portal access, account profiles, team mailboxes, and reporting needs to support operational visibility and effective issue management.
  • Lead recurring operational reviews with customs brokers, suppliers, and managed service providers to evaluate clearance performance, regulatory changes, service opportunities, open issues, and continuous improvement priorities.
  • Track and analyze operational metrics, including import reliability, landed-cost accuracy, lead time, FDA hold activity, broker performance, and clearance outcomes to identify risks, trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Manage issue resolution and escalation with brokers, forwarders, suppliers, and internal teams to reduce clearance delays, improve responsiveness, and strengthen end-to-end import execution.
  • Support ACE account management, supplier communications, and analyst coordination to promote accurate customs data, timely updates, and compliant import activity.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to manage broker-related budgets, service decisions, periodic statement requirements, outlay fee considerations, and other cost or compliance improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate purchase orders for Trade Advisory Services, broker services, and other service providers to ensure DePuy Synthes’ requirements are appropriately documented and supported.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A minimum of 6 years in Trade Compliance, International Supply Chain, International Transportation, or experience in a highly regulated industry is required.
  • Strong teamwork, problem solving, decision-making, and root cause analysis skills are required.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong project management/organizational skills are required.
  • Experience supporting audits, assessments, or compliance activities in a regulated environment.
  • Proficiency with standard business and reporting tools (e.g., Microsoft Office) is required.
  • Certified Customs Specialist certification
  • Six Sigma, Lean, FPX Certification and training preferred.
