About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Leadership Team member for the Tax team
  • Oversight of 1 paralegal
  • Set strategies and provide oversight of all aspects of cross-border and domestic acquisitions, dispositions, licensing deals, repatriation, and internal tax planning for all sectors globally
  • Lead the Tax Counsel Group in the setting deal modeling guidance, structuring and execution of deals, legal entity rationalization and restructuring projects
  • Deliver training on M&A and technical tax topics to other groups in the tax department and relevant business partners
  • Responsible for providing high level technical tax and legal advice to management in the administration of the company’s worldwide employee compensation and benefit plans
  • Lead on confirming compliance with laws and regulations applicable to employee compensation and benefits
  • Lead on repatriation planning in partnership with DS Treasury and provide technical advice on Supply Chain planning across the Tax Planning team
  • Technical advisor on DS’s external efforts to influence the US international tax policy
  • Represent DS with active participation in industry groups
  • Develop strategy and lead on acquisition integration

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • JD required, LLM in Taxation preferred
  • Current Bar membership required
  • At least 12 years of tax function experience in a law firm or organization that operates in multiple countries including foreign subsidiaries and operations required
  • Strong technical knowledge of international taxation (including subpart F and the international provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act), mergers & acquisitions, restructuring transactions and partnership taxation required
  • Exposure to compensation and benefits tax issues required
  • Exceptional business partnering, negotiation, and written and verbal communications skills required
  • Strong influencing and collaboration skills, partnering with multiple stakeholders across the enterprise and external partners, including a network of legal advisors across the globe required
  • Ability to develop talent and lead teams across the enterprise required
  • Ability to drive innovative solutions to meet business needs required
  • Ability to manage risk in a quickly changing external environment required
