About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead packaging initiatives and programs across secondary and tertiary packaging, ensuring clear scope, milestones, stakeholder alignment, risk management and execution discipline.
- Own and maintain packaging roadmaps aligned with product lifecycle needs, site priorities, capacity plans, sustainability objectives, and evolving regulatory expectations, including ownership of budget planning and preparation of CARs.
- Drive innovation and change by identifying, evaluating and implementing new packaging materials, technologies, processes and ways of working that improve robustness, efficiency, sustainability and business continuity.
- Act as the secondary and tertiary packaging engineering subject matter expert, providing technical guidance on materials, pack structures, protective strategies, equipment interfaces, manufacturability and distribution requirements.
- Provide technical oversight for packaging development, qualification, validation and lifecycle management activities to ensure packaging integrity, manufacturability and reliable performance across internal sites and external partners.
- Monitor current and emerging packaging regulations, standards and industry expectations; assess their impact on packaging operations, documentation, processes and site implementation plans.
- Partner with Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Procurement, Planning, Logistics, Product and MSAT stakeholders to align packaging decisions, communicate risks and drive timely implementation of mitigations.
- Lead technical assessments, investigations and problem-solving activities related to packaging materials, processes, suppliers, distribution performance and operational issues.
- Coach and support packaging engineers and cross-functional partners by sharing expertise, strengthening technical capability and promoting consistent application of packaging standards and best practices.
- Represent MSAT Packaging in cross-functional forums and contribute to governance, prioritization and decision-making for packaging initiatives.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of a Bachelor’s or equivalent University Degree required
- Focus in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science or equivalent discipline
- Significant experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, consumer health or other regulated packaging engineering environment, with strong focus on secondary and tertiary packaging
- Demonstrated ability to lead packaging initiatives or technical programs from concept through implementation in a matrixed, cross-functional environment
- Strong technical understanding of packaging materials, packaging operations, qualification and validation principles, distribution requirements and lifecycle management
- Experience assessing packaging-related regulatory requirements and translating them into practical implications for packaging processes, documentation and operations
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders, manage priorities and communicate technical topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience supporting investigations, risk assessments, change controls or technical troubleshooting
- Ability to work independently, coach others and deliver results in a global, cross-site environment
