About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Shape and lead the global communications and public affairs strategy for Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine’s Solid Tumor portfolio.
  • Serve as the most senior communications counselor to Solid Tumor leadership.
  • Ensure clear, consistent, and credible positioning across science, access, policy, and value.
  • Drive strategic alignment across global, regional, and market teams.
  • Work closely with Commercial, R&D, and Enterprise partners to influence the external environment.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing Solid Tumor communications team.
  • Contribute as a senior leader within the Innovative Medicine Communications & Public Affairs organization.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, Life Sciences, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in communications, public affairs, or related external engagement roles
  • Significant experience leading communications for complex, global pharmaceutical portfolios or therapeutic areas, preferably in oncology
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a trusted advisor to senior business and scientific leaders
  • Deep understanding of the biopharmaceutical environment, including commercialization, access, policy, and reputational dynamics
  • Proven experience in issues and crisis management within a highly regulated environment
  • Strong strategic thinking, executive presence, and influencing skills in matrixed organizations
  • Experience leading and developing high‑performing global teams
  • Ability to integrate enterprise, regional, and market perspectives into cohesive strategies.
  • Up to 25–30% travel, domestic and international.
