About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Shape and lead the global communications and public affairs strategy for Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine’s Hematology portfolio
  • Serve as primary strategic communications advisor to Hematology franchise leadership, providing counsel on external positioning, risk assessment, and stakeholder engagement
  • Shape the global narrative for Hematology across disease areas, products, pipeline assets, and scientific platforms, ensuring clarity, consistency, and differentiation
  • Oversee communications strategy for priority launches, major data readouts, lifecycle milestones, and key growth brands
  • Partner with Public Affairs to drive market‑shaping, policy, and advocacy strategies
  • Guide integrated communications planning across media, issues management, scientific congresses, campaigns, and executive visibility
  • Align with regional and market communications leaders to ensure global strategy is effectively adapted, shaped and executed locally
  • Anticipate, assess, and manage issues and reputational risks affecting the Hematology portfolio
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including media, scientific experts, advocacy organizations, and policy influencers
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing Hematology communications team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, Life Sciences, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in communications, public affairs, or related external engagement roles
  • Significant experience leading communications for complex, global pharmaceutical portfolios or therapeutic areas
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a trusted advisor to senior business and scientific leaders
  • Deep understanding of the biopharmaceutical environment, including commercialization, access, policy, and reputational dynamics
  • Proven experience in issues and crisis management in a highly regulated environment
  • Strong strategic thinking, executive presence, and influencing skills in matrixed organizations
  • Experience leading and developing high‑performing global teams
  • Ability to integrate enterprise, regional, and market perspectives into cohesive strategies
  • Experience in Oncology or adjacent specialty disease areas preferred
  • Experience working closely with Public Affairs, Market Access, and Government Affairs partners preferred
  • Global experience across multiple regions and markets preferred
