About the role
- Provide Leadership on Front End Loading for the mega projects
- Capital investment initiatives by obtaining agreement on project definitions, scope and priorities, and ensure that resources, capabilities and processes are in place.
- Presents projects to senior management stakeholders.
- Assembles and coordinates project teams and manages project resource allocation.
- In collaboration with the Engineering & Design team, he/she provides leadership direction on architecture and design on major capital programs (mega projects) and ensures adoption of standard design platforms whenever applicable and compliance with latest regulatory standards.
- Provides leadership direction and support to project teams and ensures that programs stay on plan by resolving resource conflicts and removing obstacles, which may involve negotiating at a senior level.
- In collaboration with the Global Project Controls unit, tracks project deliverables using appropriate tools.
- Monitors and reports on progress of the project to all stakeholders and provides status reports defining project progress, risks and mitigation actions.
- Implements and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.
- Manages overall portfolio of mega projects budget and conducts project evaluations and assesses results.
- Ensures that proper risk management analysis is performed and plans are in place for all mega projects and technology implementations.
- Through the PM Center of Excellence ensures metrics for engineering performance are met and plans are in place to provide continuous improvement, by adoptions of best practices on design, construction, safety and C&Q.
- Ensures collaboration across other functional areas, establishing effective working relationships with internal and external partners.
- Ensures adequate adoption of Contracting Strategies for Project Delivery (Vendors Qualification, Global Agreements and Performance Surveillance for Design, Construction, Safety and C&Q).
- Ensures application of efficient work practices for core group processes and ensures continuous improvement and update of these practices by incorporating lessons learned.
- Develop yearly business plans and personal objectives that support the overall company goals.
- Advises and correlates short- and long-term tactical engineering plans and programs for design, construction or alteration of activities based on strategic departmental plans.
- Comply with all training requirements to perform duties of the job.
- Meets all mobility demands to perform duties and/or fulfill responsibilities of the job.
- 25 - 50% travel is typical with increased travel possible during peak periods of the project.
- Establishes plans for talent development, diversification, and professional development for the group.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree is required with preference in Engineering, Architecture and Design or Construction Management from an accredited institution is required.
- 15+ years of relative business experience and Project Management is required including all aspects of Design, Construction Management and Commissioning and Qualification.
- Prior experience managing major (mega) capital projects (>$500MM) is required.
- Previous supervisors experience with direct reports required.
- Experience in Design and Construction Management is highly recommended.
- LEED AP certification is preferred.
- PMP or comparable Certification and familiarity with J&J Project Management approaches (FPX & IDEA Process) is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cGMP’s and Regulatory Requirements and applicability to facility design and start up is preferred.
- Professional Engineering License is preferred.
- Experience working in the Americas and EMEA is desired.
