About the role
- Responsible for the hiring, onboarding, training and management of the Northeast regional Rheumatology MSL team
- Strengthening and building JNJ’s external footprint across the rheumatology space
- Driving field results and execution for Tremfya in PsA
- Ensuring that the team functions according to the Medical Affairs plan and company directives
- Conducting routine team field visits and 1:1 meetings; providing observation and coaching
- Conducting performance coaching and feedback discussions
- Providing oversight responsibility for team’s training and development
- Ensuring team optimal capacity, field activity level, and field metrics
- Collaborating with headquarters
- Ensuring each MSL territory plan is strategic, up to date and actionable
- Managing the team through special projects and cross functional support activities
- Collaborates and aligns with other Field Directors for consistent execution of field medical plans across the US
- Provide career and succession planning in support of staff reaching their highest potential

- Responsible for timely completion of administrative duties. Examples include assessment and approval of expense reports, preparation and communication of team metric reports, among others.
- Co-lead the communication of MSL team achievement updates to appropriate internal partners and levels of management.
Requirements
- A minimum of a graduate medical/scientific degree required, i.e. PhD, PharmD, NP, PA, MD, DO
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience, with a minimum of 5 years of healthcare/pharmaceutical or medical device industry experience required
- Experience as a MSL or Field Medical Manager is required
- Previous people management responsibility, including experience onboarding and training new hires, is required.
- Immunology experience highly preferred.
- Requires travel of approx. 60% (includes overnight travel)
- Ability to maintain an office in the home and live in close proximity to an airport.
- Must be available to attend national scientific congresses and key strategic/scientific meetings across the US, and at the corporate office in Horsham, PA.
