About the role

  • Responsible for the hiring, onboarding, training and management of the Northeast regional Rheumatology MSL team
  • Strengthening and building JNJ’s external footprint across the rheumatology space
  • Driving field results and execution for Tremfya in PsA
  • Ensuring that the team functions according to the Medical Affairs plan and company directives
  • Conducting routine team field visits and 1:1 meetings; providing observation and coaching
  • Conducting performance coaching and feedback discussions
  • Providing oversight responsibility for team’s training and development
  • Ensuring team optimal capacity, field activity level, and field metrics
  • Collaborating with headquarters
  • Ensuring each MSL territory plan is strategic, up to date and actionable
  • Managing the team through special projects and cross functional support activities
  • Collaborates and aligns with other Field Directors for consistent execution of field medical plans across the US
  • Provide career and succession planning in support of staff reaching their highest potential
  • Provide an optimal working environment by promoting/functioning according to Credo values, communication of a clear direction, active listening, respecting inclusion, encouraging collaborative partnership, empowering direct reports, follow up on commitments, promoting innovation, and rewarding high performance
  • Responsible for timely completion of administrative duties. Examples include assessment and approval of expense reports, preparation and communication of team metric reports, among others.
  • Co-lead the communication of MSL team achievement updates to appropriate internal partners and levels of management.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a graduate medical/scientific degree required, i.e. PhD, PharmD, NP, PA, MD, DO
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience, with a minimum of 5 years of healthcare/pharmaceutical or medical device industry experience required
  • Experience as a MSL or Field Medical Manager is required
  • Previous people management responsibility, including experience onboarding and training new hires, is required.
  • Immunology experience highly preferred.
  • Requires travel of approx. 60% (includes overnight travel)
  • Ability to maintain an office in the home and live in close proximity to an airport.
  • Must be available to attend national scientific congresses and key strategic/scientific meetings across the US, and at the corporate office in Horsham, PA.
