About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Achieve sales objectives and manage the Salisbury, North Carolina territory
  • Sell current and new products and promotions
  • Conduct in-store tastings and service customer accounts
  • Perform merchandising activities including shelf placement, maintaining cold boxes, building displays, and stocking inventories
  • Develop strategies and preplans to achieve sales and merchandising objectives
  • Maintain accurate historical account purchase information
  • Create efficient daily route patterns and call on accounts
  • Analyze the account base, identify opportunities, complete surveys, and ensure national account compliance
  • Prepare and deliver professional sales presentations
  • Monitor inventory levels and out-of-stock situations and alert management to demand fluctuations
  • Achieve distribution, volume, and activity goals for supplier brands
  • Maintain brand visibility and account standards using point-of-sale materials
  • Take inventory and restock shelves
  • Collect and deliver payments where legally permissible
  • Educate account staff through brand training seminars
  • Develop opening orders for new accounts with the District Manager
  • Process credits and returns and communicate about aged receivables
  • Deliver products in extenuating circumstances and handle or escalate customer issues
  • Participate in supplier sales calls and sales blitzes
  • Attend and participate in sales meetings and required training programs
  • Maintain professional and industry knowledge
  • Protect confidential information and maintain a safe, clean working environment
  • Contribute to team efforts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent training and work experience preferred
  • Understanding of wine and spirits highly preferred
  • Strong accounting, computer, customer service and interpersonal expertise preferred
  • Results-oriented professional with excellent verbal/written communication skills; uses diplomacy and discretion
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail, and meet deadlines
  • Proficient PC skills using MS Office and other various programs including presentation software
  • Familiarity with assigned territory is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle
  • Use of a personal vehicle required
  • Must pass a criminal background and MVR check
