About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and develop a team of Sales Consultants, Retail Specialists, and Merchandisers
- Drive sales execution, manage supplier relationships, and ensure operational excellence across the designated region
- Manage team execution and service to retail chain accounts
- Spend approximately 80% of the week in the market with Retail Specialists and Merchandisers and approximately 1 day per week in the office
- Complete new-hire paperwork and onboarding, including training on Netsuite and internal operations
- Train and develop Retail Specialists in the field weekly
- Route market Merchandisers daily based on market needs
- Set monthly sales goals and monitor progress toward goals
- Resolve account issues and complaints
- Review account sales data, identify trends, and reassign underperforming accounts
- Enter orders, maintain accounts, and assist with retail deliveries
- Merchandise accounts and deliver orders as needed
- Complete formal bi-annual performance reviews
- Ensure compliance with chain schematics, planners, and planograms
- Coordinate with Operations Teams on efficient route schedules
- Foster a positive team environment and address employee concerns
- Review sales orders and pricing to maintain correct pricing and margins
- Ensure execution on new brand depletions and retail placements
- Liaise between Chain Account Managers and the Retail Specialist team
- Recruit new talent by creating sales routes, reviewing resumes, and conducting interviews
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 5+ years of sales experience
- 3+ years in the spirits or wine industry
- 2+ years of managerial experience with a sales team
- Experience working in a startup environment
- Proven track record of success and strong sales performance
- Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Strong understanding of cost/pricing methodology
- Ability to manage individuals to exceed goals and perform to defined metrics
- Professional conduct, communication, and writing
- Accounts receivable collection management
- Ability to lift and carry a 40+ pound case of wine
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
- Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and within a team structure
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, focused, and assertive
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for customer and retailer relationships
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must hold a valid driver's license and meet company driving record and automobile insurance requirements
- Must be able to travel within established geographic areas
- Must complete and pass a criminal background check
- Regular, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance is required
