About the role

  • Under administrative direction of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Coordinator, performs a broad range of accounting and financial auditing activities for the agency leading up to the preparation of fund financial statements and the annual GAAP reporting process.
  • Prepares records, reports and entries in compliance with GAAP.
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and other financial reports and reconciliations for internal use or as required by the Comptroller for the funds assigned, including reconciliations of cash, appropriations, expenditures, fixed assets, accounts receivable, accounts payable, lapse period expenditures and other required or assigned financial reports for supervisory or management review.
  • Completes Comptroller financial reporting SCO forms (both computerized and manual) for use in the annual GAAP reporting process; enters all adjusting and reclassification entries, and rolls-up and verifies applicable funds applications; prints and assembles fund packages and non-WEDGE SCO forms in a format prescribed by the agency for supervisory and management review.
  • Works with external, internal auditors and other applicable parties as assigned, to answer questions or explain records or the information provided in the GAAP packages or other financial reports.

Requirements

  • Requires the knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of college with at least 18 hours of course work in accounting and finance.
  • Requires three (3) years of progressively responsible accounting experience in a public or private organization.
